About Me:
"Hey there, fellow travelers! I was born in Southwest Louisiana, a place known for its rich culture, incredible food, and lively music scene. From crawfish boils to zydeco music, there’s always something to celebrate in the Bayou State! I grew up surrounded by the Cajun culture, a unique blend of French, African, and Native American influences. The Cajuns, descendants of French-speaking settlers from Canada, brought with them their traditions, language, and a love for good food and great company. Cajun cuisine is legendary, with dishes like gumbo, jambalaya, crawfish étouffée, and spicy boudin sausage. In the heart of Cajun country, family and community are everything, and the music of the bayou—especially zydeco and Cajun folk tunes—brings people together like nothing else.
My passion for exploring the world started with a bang—or rather, a baby in my arms! My very first flight was in 2001, flying to Guam with a newborn, just after 9/11. Talk about diving headfirst into adventure—literally! While in Guam, I became a PADI Certified Scuba Diver, exploring some of the island’s most incredible underwater sites. Guam is a diver's paradise, with crystal-clear waters, vibrant coral reefs, and even wrecks from both World War I and World War II. One of the most fascinating dives is at the site of the SMS Cormoran from WWI and the Tokai Maru from WWII—two wrecks that are so close you can touch both in a single dive!
As a former military spouse, I’ve had the opportunity to live in incredible places like Washington DC, Panama City Beach, FL, Anoka, MN, and Tacoma, WA. Now, I call the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) home, and living here has been a whole new adventure. Washington, DC is a city full of history, culture, and world-changing moments. From the iconic monuments on the National Mall to the political pulse of Capitol Hill, it’s a place where every corner tells a story. Did you know that DC is home to the world’s largest library (The Library of Congress), and its cherry blossoms attract over a million visitors every spring? And, of course, you can’t miss the food scene—DC is known for its international flavors, especially Ethiopian cuisine and the famous half-smoke sausage!
Over the years, I’ve also had the chance to vacation in some pretty amazing places—Jamaica, Australia, and Hawaii! Jamaica is famous for its reggae music and stunning beaches. Did you know that the island is home to Seven Mile Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world? Australia is a land of contrasts, from the iconic Sydney Opera House to the Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest coral reef system. And let’s not forget Hawaii! From the dramatic volcanoes of the Big Island to the lush beauty of Kauai, Hawaii is a paradise for nature lovers, with some of the most spectacular sunsets you’ll ever see.
